Our pool products findings
We have great results for you all. As mentioned in our last newsletter we will talk about three different systems; salt systems, ozone systems and ionization systems.
Salt systems: Although these systems vary considerably, most function in the same way, using some chlorine with the salt. The best ones do not require the use of chlorine, this quote from a web-site:
Salt Chlorinators use small amount of natural salt (Sodium Chloride) is dissolved into the water (becoming about half as salty as a human teardrop). The system's electrolytic cell is plumbed directly in-line with the pool equipment. The power control unit is wired to the pool timer so it purifies the water when the pump is running. The power control unit can be adjusted to the desired level of purifier production. As the water flows through the electrolytic cell, electrolysis separates the saline into its basic components, sodium and chloride. Chlorine gas is produced by this process and goes to work in the cell chamber to oxidize bacteria and purify the pool water. Following this process most of the chloride and sodium re-bond and become natural salt again. Only a small amount of salt needs to be added one or twice a year to replace the salt lost due to splash-out or backwashing of the filter. Because the purifying takes place in the cell chamber (not in the pool water itself) you can swim in your swimming pool without the worrying about what sanitizing chemicals may do to your skin, or clothing. With this form of sanitation you do not need to add any chlorine to your pool water. This differs from the other methods we will consider as they all require a small amount of chlorine "residual", or equivalent there of (i.e. non-chlorine shock), to function properly.
But what actually happens, is that this systems makes chlorine to purify the water, therefore you still end up with toxic chemicals (much less than conventional systems) in your water which are absorbed through your skin. Another minus is you have to spend a good amount of money to get yourself setup. Change the pump, the filter system, and purchase the salt/chlorinator system.
Ozone systems: What is ozone?
• Ozone is "active oxygen", nature's special molecule (an ozone molecule consists of three oxygen atoms).
• Ozone is created in nature by the combination of oxygen in the air and ultraviolet rays or by the electrical discharge during a lightning storm.
• Ozone is a natural purifier (meaning no harmful chemical by-products are created during purification)
• Ozone has a clean, fresh scent noticed after a rainstorm.
• Ozone is the most powerful oxidizer that can be safely used in a swimming pool or spa.
• Ozone is the alternative water purifier to traditional pool/spa chemicals such as chlorine and bromine.
We find this system to be much superior that of the salt chlorinator. A good information link:

Everyone agrees that chlorine is bad for you and that you should find an alternative. Ozone, which is oxygen, the earth’s natural purifier, is very good for your body and will actually cleanse and detoxify while you swim in it. The negative point of this system is also the initial investment, and some systems require you to purchase ozone pucks to add regularly. Again, quite an intensive setup also when you look at the modifications needed to be made to your current system.

What is a negative ion?
A negative ion is a molecule with a negative charge assigned to it. Negative ions occur commonly throughout nature and can create an overall sense of well-being. Negative ions are found after a rainstorm (falling water creates negative ions) or after a lightning strike. Every home has its own built in negative ionizer - your shower. The smell in the air generated after a rainfall is actually the odor of negatively charged ions in the air.

How does Pool ionization work?
Pool ionization works by sending positively charged ions of silver and copper through the water. The positively charged ions attract negatively charged bacteria and binds the negatively charged particles to the ions. The now neutral particles are then filtered out of the water by the filtering systems of the pool. The filter releases any negatively charged ions back into the water to help keep the process going. Use of pool ionization systems lowers the use of chlorine by 80% to 100%, depending on the amount of usage the pool is subjected to. This makes the water gentler on the people using the pool and reduces the free chlorine in the air of enclosed pools.

If you have read the Ozone section, you will notice the similarities between ozone and ions: the properties of oxygen. And there’s more, this is good for your spa, your aquarium, your pond, you home system and drinking water. If you look at the following picture you can actually see a fish in the pool; that tells you how much the water is pure and clear.
So we loved this product so much that we decided to sell it. In association with Chlorfree Canada we have signed an exclusivity contract and became partners.
How much would this cost? As an example, for an above ground pool of 21 feet in diameter (6.4 meter) it would cost about $400CDN. How long will this last? Although these are guaranteed to work for one full year, tests show that up to 3 or 4 years of use or more (our partner has had the same pucks for 5 years in Ontario, using his pool six months per year), and the ionization is still working at optimal efficiency: WOW!!! NO chlorine, NO special filters, NO fuss, NO maintenance, NO salt or chemicals or pellets, and you will feel the health benefits too!
As this is quite a finding, we will have more information on availability in our next newsletter. We are currently waiting for licensing by Health Canada, although in the next few days we will be posting for sales in the US and internationally (the product is already approved for use in by the EPA - USA). We will be shipping worldwide.
It’s so simple to use that it definitely surpasses anything on the market. All you have to do is put the pucks in the skimmer, and in less than a few weeks (or a few days) your pool is pure clear water.
